Tàijíquán 太极拳 (Tai Chi Chuan) is a traditional Martial Art from China.

  • The term “Taiji 太极” means “greatest poles”, opposites. The Taiji principle is the principle of Yin and Yang.
  • And “quan 拳” is the fist. So Taijiquan is the Martial Art that follows the Daoist principle of Yin and Yang.

There are many different styles around, and each of them can differ a lot in their methods. Especially the original content of the Martial Art often is not kept completely, as most practitioners of Taijiquan worldwide are much more interested in the aspects of healthcare and holistic self-development, rather than in doing martial arts.

The style I practice comes from the traditional transmission through the Masters Chen Fake – Hong Junsheng and Chen Zhonghua, and it is called “Chen Style Taijiquan Practical Method”. As the name states, the practical usability is pronounced.

young and old
beginners or experienced
sportive and totally not sportive


My name is Michael and I am 20th Generation Chen Style Taijiquan disciple under the lineage holder Master Chen Zhonghua. I am in India since two years and I will give regular classes and workshops from now on in Auroville, South India, but also any other regions in India, as there are people interested in hosting workshops.

Chen Style Taijiquan Practical Method is based on Daoist principles and follows a traditional, holistic approach to transform body and mind. If you like to open up your mind and to practice with persistance, you are the right person to come and try. There are no special physical requirements.

Chen Style Taijiquan Practical Method is true martial arts, but has a lot of health benefits coming side by side. It is not sportive in the common sense, and also it is not a “moving meditation” as it is presented by most other schools of Taijiquan (Tai Chi).

There is a lot more that could be said about, but this is really useful only after some experience. So please come over and have a try, only afterwards words on Taijiquan can have a meaning 😉
