wú wéi  无为〔traditional 無為〕is a main principle in Daoism.

wu 无 – no / not
wei 为 – for / because of

The literal translation gives some clarity already: wuwei is an unconditional acting, “without reason” or better to say, without wanting something back, without following conceptual ideas.

Wuwei is a special state of mind, where we can get free from our ego and concepts. Only then we have the possibility to match with the Dao, the Divine, or maybe more practical, to really match with the here and now, with situations and the beings around us.
